nice suv - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By bassraider - November 5 - 12:16 amBought this car when my 97 S-10 was t-boned in an accident. It has been nothing but reliable and cheap to own. I have taken it on many long distance trips and it has been reasonably comfortable. The only gripes I have are the combo purse/cheap plastic center console arm rest that broke in the first month of owning it, and the rear wiper which never worked reliably (but who needs one anyways). As for the complaints about the rough ride, it is a truck and it has a VERY short wheelbase which combined together make for a very bumpy ride, needless to say if you dont want a bumpy ride get the four door version and say hi to the rest of the soccer moms for me.

My Review - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport
By matt96b - July 23 - 10:00 amThe vehicle has performed quite well. I wish that it got a little better gas mileage, but it is an SUV and I get better gas mileage than I expected.

Still Going Strong! - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport
By SportDriver1 - July 11 - 2:00 amBought my Expo Sport (new) in July of 2003. With only 6500 or so miles on the odomoeter, the truck is still running like a champ. Overall, I find my SUV to be stylish, powerful and comfortable with a few notable, though perhaps obvious drawbacks. Foremost, the truck guzzles fuel! I currently average around 11-14 mpg! Further, my expo rattles and creaks like a piece of farming equipment. Positives? there are many. A smooth and powerful motor, great visibility, comfortable seats and a generally refined drving experience overall (minus the creaks & moans of course).

a little touch up work - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport
By blondi - June 11 - 10:00 amI have only had this vehicle for 4 months, so far no problems mechanically. The driver side seat rubs against the center console and squeeks, and the pink stuffing inside is already coming out on the carpet below. The passenger side seat is already tearing on the corner, and this is barely ever used.

Great if you dont have kids - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport
By airforcebrat - February 13 - 2:00 amI really like my Explorer Sport. I have to agree tho it wouldnt be too great if I had a kid who needed to be put into a car seat. Ive hauled around my 4 year old nephew and he has to have a car seat and its doggone inconvenient to put him into it. Otherwise, I have no complaints about this vehicle. Its roomy; it drives well; I feel safe in it.

Good value for SUV - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By benny981 - December 8 - 10:00 amLooked at other smaller SUV like the Pathfinder and 4Runner. Based on performance/price. The smaller Explorer is a much better value if this is a used as a second car and you already have a Minivan or something else that will seat seven. As far as reliability, you may use the money you saved on the purchase to but an extended warranty (just in case). The Pathfinder with similar options is low-mid 30s., The 4Runner is a little lower, but at 183 HP and lower tourque, its a no-brainer. Im happy with my choice and I saved at least 7-8K on the purchase price.
